Research and Surveys: Supporting Our Community's Well-Being
At The Ruth Project Wairarapa, we are committed to understanding the needs of our community, particularly around perinatal mental health. We believe that by listening to parents and caregivers, we can create better support systems, develop more relevant programs, and challenge stigma around mental health.
We regularly conduct surveys and research to gather insights and ensure that the services we offer meet the needs of our community. Your feedback is essential in shaping the future of our programs and in helping us build a more supportive, compassionate environment for all parents.
Why We Do Research
Our research efforts are designed to:
- Identify the challenges parents face during the perinatal period, especially around mental health and well-being.
- Understand the stigma and discrimination that parents experience in the perinatal space, and find ways to reduce these barriers.
- Develop programs, courses, and resources that are responsive to the real needs of parents.
- Strengthen connections within our community by making sure our services are relevant and accessible.
Ongoing Research
We encourage all members of our community to participate in the surveys and research projects we conduct. Your involvement helps us ensure that our programs are evidence-based and that they truly make a difference.
Link to Current Survey: Perinatal Mental Health and Support Needs Survey
This survey is designed to understand what support parents feel they need during the perinatal period, and to help us create a course that addresses mental resilience, identity changes, communication, and how we can better support parents during this crucial time.
Past Research
We’ve also carried out several studies and surveys in the past to help shape the programs and services we offer. Some of the key topics we've explored include:
- Prejudice and Stigma Around Perinatal Mental Health: We’ve gathered feedback from parents about the discrimination and stigma they’ve faced when dealing with mental health challenges, and how these barriers prevent them from seeking help.
Get Involved
We always welcome new participants in our research. If you’re interested in taking part in a current or future survey, please follow the links above or get in touch with us directly to learn more about upcoming opportunities.
Together, we can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and create a community where every parent feels supported, heard, and understood.
